۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And say: "Are our deities better or he?" They say this only for disputing. Surely they are a contentious people. 58 He (Prophet Jesus) was only a worshiper whom We favored and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And if We please, We could make among you angels to be successors in the land. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship [none but] Him: this [alone] is a straight way!" 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
