The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
