Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Kaf. Ha'. Ya'. Ayn. Sad. 1 A mention of the Mercy of your Lord to his worshiper Zachariah, 2 when he called upon his Lord in low tones, saying, 3 He said: My Lord! surely my bones are weakened and my head flares with hoariness, and, my Lord! I have never been unsuccessful in my prayer to Thee: 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 one that might be my heir and the heir of the house of Jacob; and make him, Lord, one that will be pleasing to You. 6 'O Zachariah, We give you good tidings of a son, and he shall be called John (Yahya); a name We have never given before' 7 He said, "Lord, how can I have a son? My wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age". 8 Allah said: even so! Thy Lord saith: it is unto Me easy, whereas surely I created thee afore when thou wast not aught. 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 Thereupon he came out of the sanctuary unto his people and signified to them [by gestures]: "Extol His limitless glory by day and by night!" 11 [Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. 14 And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive. 15
