The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
