Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a known extent. 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah)! 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
