Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
