And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 When such a person comes to Us, he will say [to his comrade], "If only you had been as far away from me as east is from west. What an evil comrade!" 38 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment! 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 We shall revenge them either after your death 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 So hold fast to all that has been revealed to thee: for, behold, thou art on a straight way; 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 And ask (O Muhammad SAW) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?" 45
