Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
