۞ Your Lord has commanded that you should worship none but Him, and show kindness to your parents. If either or both of them attain old age with you, say no word of contempt to them and do not rebuke them, but always speak gently to them 23 and treat them with humility and tenderness and say, "Lord, be merciful to them both, as they raised me up when I was little." 24 Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving. 25 (iii) Give to the near of kin his due, and also to the needy and the wayfarer. (iv) Do not squander your wealth wastefully, 26 Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord. 27 And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word. 28 And let not thy hand be chained to thy neck nor open it with a complete opening, lest thou sit down rebuked, denuded. 29 Certainly your Lord provides with open hands whosoever He will, but according to capacity, for He knows and watches His creatures. 30
