The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
