The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its brightness 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
