AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
