The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
