The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
