And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
