Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 'He' (Moses) replied: 'is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you believe' 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
