And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Do you not understand? 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
