Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 The sending down of the Book is from God, the All-mighty, the All-wise. 2 Lo! in the heavens and the earth are portents for believers. 3 and in your creation, and in the crawling things that He has scattered far and near, there are signs for a nation whose belief is certain, 4 And in the succession of night and day, and in the means of subsistence which God sends down from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless, and in the change of the winds: [in all this] there are messages for people who use their reason. 5 Such are the verses of Allah. We recite them to you in truth. So in what speech, after Allah and His signs, will they believe? 6 Alas the woe for every dissembling sinner 7 who hears God's messages when they are conveyed to him, and yet, as though he had not heard them, persists in his haughty disdain! Hence, announce unto him grievous suffering 8 And when he learns something of Our Signs, he takes them in jest: for such there will be a humiliating Penalty. 9 Before them is Hell, and what they had earned will not avail them at all nor what they had taken besides Allah as allies. And they will have a great punishment. 10 This is (true) Guidance and for those who reject the Signs of their Lord, is a grievous Penalty of abomination. 11
