The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
