O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do. 51 And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them? So the reward of your Lord is the best; and He is the Best Provider of Sustenance. 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 but those who disbelieve in the Everlasting Life deviate from the Path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
