The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
