The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
