Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
