The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
