He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
