۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
