[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
