The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
