The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
