He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
