The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
