The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
