The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
