۞ It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he had sexual relation with her, she became pregnant and she carried it about lightly. Then when it became heavy, they both invoked Allah, their Lord (saying): "If You give us a Salih (good in every aspect) child, we shall indeed be among the grateful." 189 But when He gave them a Salih (good in every aspect) child, they ascribed partners to Him (Allah) in that which He has given to them. High be Allah, Exalted above all that they ascribe as partners to Him. (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 9, Page 148). 190 Do they (the disbelievers) ascribe (false deities) that which do not create anything, but are themselves created? 191 And they have no power to give them help, nor can they help themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is all the same if you call them or hold your tongue. 193 Those whom you invoke besides God are created beings like you. So call on them and let them answer your call, if what you say is true. 194 Have these [images,] perchance, feet on which they could walk? Or have they hands with which they could grasp? Or have they eyes with which they could see? Or have they ears with which they could hear? Say [O Prophet]: "Summon to your aid all those to whom you ascribe a share in God's divinity, and thereupon contrive [anything you may wish] against me, and give me no respite! 195 My protector is God who sent down the Book, for it is He who protects the righteous. 196 While those you beseech apart from Him cannot help you or even help themselves. 197 And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not. 198 Accept the easing, order with fine jurisprudence, and avoid the ignorant. 199 And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. 200 When a satanic thought starts to bother the pious ones, they understand and see the light 201 And their brethren drag them on toward error, so they stop not short. 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 Hence, when the Qur'an is voiced, hearken unto it, and listen in silence, so that you might be graced with [God's] mercy." 204 Remember your Lord in your soul with humility and fear, and not with a loud voice, morning and evening, and do not be among the inattentive. 205 Surely those who are with your Lord are not too proud to serve Him, and they declare His glory and prostrate in humility before Him. ۩ 206
