And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
