He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
