The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
