And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
