The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
