The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
