The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
