The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear. 26
