He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
