The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
