HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
True are the words of God the Almighty.
