The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
