And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
