Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And so we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 And when we heard the Message of guidance, we believed therein; and whosoever believeth in his Lord, he shall fear neither diminution nor wrong. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
