The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
