The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? 10
